Vehicle finance explained

Most cars in Zambia are bought on instalment sale: the bank owns the car until the last payment.
What affects your instalment
- Deposit: the more you put down, the less you borrow.
- Term: up to 60 months is common; shorter costs less interest in total.
- Balloon: a lump sum at the end lowers the instalment but must be paid or refinanced.
- Interest rate: set by the bank from your credit profile, usually linked to the bank’s base lending rate.
